The August 2011 issue of Juxtapoz Magazine (n127 if you are counting at home), with our covers featuring classic San Francisco graffiti photos of Craig Costello. Twist, Reminisce, and KR are amongst some of the artists featured in Costello's recently never-before seen documentation of a vital period of art and culture that spread from SF to the rest of the world.

Costello currently is exhibiting these photos at MOCA's "Art In the Streets" (along with a nice Krink mailbox set), and we have been working with Costello for quite some time to bring these photos in Juxtapoz. As the magazine was founded in SF right around the same time that Twist, KR, Reminisce, Dug-One, and others were making groundbreaking works in the streets of the Bay Area, it was fitting to showcase the photography now with a major street and graffiti art retrospective was running at MOCA.

Also in August 2011 is Australian illustrator Jonathan Zawada, fine artist Mary Iverson, Mexico City's Saner, music photographer Autumn de Wilde, and Shepard Fairey discusses poster art with Portland legend, Emek.

Life's always better going Sidewayz!!!

Well winter has landed and what better way to welcome it!! Yep... it's time to hit the streets, check out some art, have a few beverages, catch up with some cats and hopefully get a little bit sidewayz.

The good people at Balmoral Boards and Westsyde Connection have join forces this year bringing the Annual BB Winter Snow Season Party together with the Sydney Sidewayz Art Exhibition. The guys behind these event always bring together board sports lovers. This year they'll be raising money for the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal, and Japan Earthquake Tsunami Relief.

SATURDAY NIGHT...

After two years of hiatus the Sidewayz Art Exhibition returns. Keeping with the original format of artworks on used skateboards and snowboards the exhibition continues to be a non-profit exercise, raising funds for a couple of good causes.

Sidewayz is pround to Sydney Skateboard shop Westsyde Connection behind this years exhibition.

Westsyde Connection co-owner Nathan Ho said Westsyde is honoured to be involved in the Sidewayz Art Show. "This is a great chance to help those in need by the use of previously loved boards. The artists that get involved are talented to bring the love back into these boards and noble to donate these works for the betterment of others",said Mr Ho.

Opening at The National Grid on Saturday 4th of June, over 50 artists including our own KON artists Jimmy Baxter(KON) and Louis Bressington , Bridge, Deb, E.L.K, Ben Frost, Phibs, SMC[3], Apeseven and Vars.... amongst others from Sydney, Melbourne & Brisbane will be contributing to this years exhibition. A mix of emerging and established Australian artist talent will be up for silent auction on opening night and further bids will continue to be made throughout the following week online.

With all funds raised from the sales being split between The Christchurch Earthquake Appeal and The Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund.

Get along grab a Grolsch and enjoy the visual stimulation-it's going to be a rad night!

Over the past 6 years Botanics have developed into a one-of-a-kind act in the

Australian hip hop scene.

Hailing from the Australian Metropolis, Sydney – Botanics have certainly been busy. In 2010, Botanics churned out two releases, two national Tours, radio play Australia Wide, prime-time TV slots, soundtracks and smashing reviews… All before the LP has even been dropped!

2011 sees Botanics ready to release the highly anticipated sophomore LP, ‘The Fabric’ – A culmination of ideas put together over the last few years, and releasing the title track, ‘The Fabric’, as the album’s lead single.

To coincide with the release of ‘The Fabric’ Botanics will be embarking on another national tour. There will be exclusive remixes of some tracks from ‘The Fabric’ to be released in the coming months.

Blind - Marc Mckee Classics - New book and Art Show

Marc McKee is one of the most important artists to have been involved in skateboarding over the past 20 years. His early work for World Industries, Blind, 101, etc… and tenure as Editor at Big Brother Magazine up until the publication was sold to Flynt not only shaped an entire generation’s artistic sensibilities—switching skateboarding from skulls and daggers to irreverent cartoon imagery, it also added a deeper level of social consciousness to a pastime outgrowing it’s surf culture roots throughout the early ’90s.

His new book (co-produced by enjoi’s Winston Tseng), Seen/Unknown: The Art of Marc McKee will be available in Australia soon.
